Bournemouth have completed the signing of Serbian goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea in a deal worth £25 million, with the 25-year-old putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.
Petrovic initially joined Chelsea from New England Revolution in 2023 for £14 million, but spent last season on loan at French side Strasbourg.
While on loan, Petrovic impressed massively — earning the title of Strasbourg’s Player of the Season as the club clinched a Europa Conference League spot with a 7th-place Ligue 1 finish.
Despite having briefly claimed Chelsea’s No.1 spot under Mauricio Pochettino — making 23 appearances in the 2023–24 season — he was loaned out due to doubts over his ball-playing ability.
During his loan spell in France, Petrovic’s distribution showed improvement, registering more accurate passing stats than Chelsea’s current No.1 Robert Sanchez, though his progress in playing out from the back was not dramatic.
Interestingly, Chelsea’s back-up keeper Filip Jorgensen outperformed both Petrovic and Sanchez in terms of pass accuracy and long-ball precision.
Bournemouth, in need of a reliable presence between the posts, are hopeful Petrovic will bring experience, consistency, and sharp reflexes to the south coast.
