How can Liverpool afford Isak after spending so much?

Liverpool have already spent over £170 million this summer — and now, they’re eyeing a move that could break the British transfer record once again.

A deal for Newcastle United’s star striker Alexander Isak is on the table, with the total package expected to cost around £130 million. If completed, it would rocket Liverpool’s summer spending to a massive £300 million.

Compare that to last summer, where the then Premier League champions spent just £10 million on Federico Chiesa and £25 million on goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

This summer’s headline signings already include:

  • Florian Wirtz – £116m (British record midfielder)
  • Milos Kerkez – £40m (Full-back)
  • Jeremie Frimpong – £30m (Full-back)

With their midfield and defense strengthened, Liverpool are now going all-in for a top-tier striker.

BBC Sport reports that while Liverpool have explored multiple options, Alexander Isak has become their priority target in recent days. However, he’s not the only one on their radar:

  • Hugo Ekitike – A £70m bid from Newcastle was rejected by Eintracht Frankfurt
  • Yoane Wissa – Brentford’s explosive forward is being monitored
  • Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa’s key man is also under consideration

So the big question is: How can Liverpool afford this massive spending spree? And is there still room in the budget for more fireworks this summer?

Only time will tell — but one thing’s for sure: Arne Slot’s Liverpool means business.
