Following Ansu Fati’s move to Monaco, the legendary jersey — once worn by Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Lionel Messi — has been handed to the 18-year-old wonderkid.
The announcement came during the signing ceremony of Yamal’s new long-term contract, which had been agreed upon earlier this year. However, the club waited to make it official until he turned 18 — which he did just last Sunday.
“It has been a dream since I was little. My family and I are overjoyed. Barcelona is my life, my home. I’ve been here since I was 7. Every youth player dreams of reaching the first team — I’m living that dream now. I want to enjoy it, win, and keep winning. I can’t wait to play at the new Camp Nou,” said Yamal during the ceremony.
