Manchester United Submit £70m Bid for Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United have submitted a third bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, with the total package potentially worth £70 million.

The latest offer includes an initial £65 million, plus £5 million in add-ons. As of now, Brentford have not responded to the proposal.

United remain confident about securing Mbeumo and are hopeful the deal can be finalised before the squad departs for the U.S. pre-season tour on Tuesday. Manager Ruben Amorim is keen to integrate the Cameroon international into the squad ahead of three friendlies in Chicago, where United will be based for 13 days.

Although the club has recently been linked with Nicolas Jackson of Chelsea and Emiliano Martínez of Aston Villa, their top attacking priority has consistently been Mbeumo.

The 25-year-old had an outstanding season in 2024–25, scoring 20 Premier League goals, drawing interest from multiple clubs including Tottenham, managed by former Brentford boss Thomas Frank. However, Mbeumo is understood to have made Manchester United his preferred destination.

Meanwhile, Brentford striker Yoane Wissa is also attracting interest, with Newcastle reportedly monitoring the situation.

United’s goal-scoring struggles last season—netting just 44 league goals, their lowest return since 1973–74—have made attacking reinforcements a priority. With Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon already signed this summer, Mbeumo would further strengthen Amorim’s attacking system.

If the deal is completed, Bruno Fernandes is expected to operate in a deeper midfield role, while Cunha is set to play in one of the two inside forward positions behind a central striker in Amorim’s preferred setup.

The arrival of Mbeumo would also reduce the chances of a return for Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, who remain out of favour under the current regime.

Manchester United begin their Premier League campaign at home to Arsenal on 17 August.
