Marcus Rashford made his initial appearance for Barcelona today, playing 33 minutes in their 3-1 friendly victory against Japanese side Vissel Kobe. The England international, who joined the Spanish champions on a season-long loan from Manchester United, entered the match at halftime as part of 11 changes made by the Catalan club.
The 27-year-old forward, whose move could become permanent next summer for £30.3 million, was substituted in the 78th minute for teenager Dro Fernandez, who went on to score Barcelona’s third goal.
Barcelona’s scoring started with defender Eric Garcia netting the opener in the 33rd minute. Vissel Kobe’s Taisei Miyashiro equalized just three minutes before halftime. Swedish forward Roony Bardghji, a new summer signing from Copenhagen, restored Barcelona’s lead before 17-year-old Dro Fernandez sealed the win in the 87th minute.
The friendly was initially called off earlier in the week due to what Barcelona described as “serious contractual breaches” by the promoter. However, these issues were resolved, allowing the match to proceed as scheduled.
